The Best Perfumes This Spring

 

I love buying perfume. That does not mean I am in the shops every week buying perfumes and cosmetics.

 

Although I like to keep up with the new launches, I don’t always buy a new perfume as soon as it is launched. Instead, I buy new perfumes when the seasons change.

 

I do the same thing with make-up. It is nice to freshen up your look every so often.

 

When To Buy A New Perfume

 

Some perfumes work well in the spring and others make better autumn perfumes. I also try to buy a perfume which matches my personality.

 

In general, I buy new perfumes every three months or so.

 

I don’t have any hard and fast rules. When I buy new perfumes, I often buy three different ones. I like to have one for daytime wear and another for the evening.

 

Also, I like to have a “leisurely” fragrance. What do I mean by that? A leisurely perfume is one of those perfumes you put on when you are at home hanging out with the family. This spring, I have gone for Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue EDT. It is just incredibly refreshing.

 

As the seasons change, air quality changes as well. You probably know this yourself.

 

Spring air is fresh and often rich in flower scents. Autumn air is often heavier. You pick up on notes such as leaf mould.

 

Changing your perfume with the seasons means it stays noticeable. Both you and others can still “smell” it.

 

I think buying a perfume people around can’t smell is super disappointing. You want to be complimented on your choice of fragrance.

Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet

 

You can always rely on Dior to produce feminine fragrances that stand the test of time.

 

In 2014, Dior extended its Miss Dior range and launched Blooming Bouquet. This is a lovely fragrance which I like having sitting on my dressing table.

 

The fragrance was created by Louise Turner. She is one of my favourite noses in the perfume industry as she dares to be different.

 

Louise excelled herself when she created Blooming Bouquet. The top notes include refreshing mandarin accented with Damask rose, apricot, pink peony and peach. White musk has been added for depth.

 

This is a lovely fragrance. I think it makes a great perfume for daytime. It is at home both in the office and on the school run.

 

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

 

I call this my “day off” perfume. On the weekends, apart from when going out in the evening, Light Blue from Dolce and Gabbana is the perfect perfume for me.

 

It incorporates everything which goes with a perfume which is easy to wear.

Don’t for one moment think this is a new addition to D&G. The fragrance was launched as far back as 2001.

 

What does D&G Light Blue smell like?

 

I love the opening notes of apple and Sicilian lemon. In the middle range, cedar and bellflower make themselves known. Jasmine, white rose and bamboo give the Light Blue an extra layer before a final flourish of amber and musk.

 

If you are going out for the day, you get the best of both worlds. A refreshing scent with added endurance.

 

Lancome La Vie Est Belle

 

Once you have caught a whiff of La Vie Est Belle, you instantly recognise it when you smell it again.

 

You simply can’t mistake La Vie Est Belle - it is sweet and exotic at the same time. Iros mix with vanilla and what can only be described as warm spun sugar. This is backed up by deep warming patchouli notes.

 

This is a fragrance which works well during the day and night. When you are going out for dinner, it is a great perfume to put on.

 

It comes highly recommended by me.

Marc Jacobs Perfect Eau De Parfum

 

Marc Jacobs is another brand which likes to extend its range of fine fragrances with only the best.

 

Perfect was launched in 2020. I think this is an innovative scent with quality notes. There are not many notes included, but perfumer Domitille Michalon Bertier has made the most of them.

 

What does Marc Jacob Perfect smell like?

 

The first notes are narcissus and rhubarb. Once the fragrance develops, you also pick on almond milk along with cashmere and cedar.

 

If you like, this is a soft scent with a touch of sensuality. It is great for daytime but also transitions smoothly into the evening.

 

I know the addition of rhubarb sounds odd. But, if you have rhubarb growing in your garden, you will know it is very aromatic.

 

Marc Jacobs Perfect is aromatic and soft. This combination makes it a very romantic perfume.

 

Paco Rabanne Fame

 

I recently read on a website that Fame launched in the 1980s. I am afraid the author of the article, got mixed up between the American TV series and the Paco Rabanne perfume.

 

Fame by Paco Rabanne launched as late as 2022. It is a lovely feminine fragrance created by four of the best noses in the perfume industry.

 

Top notes include bergamot and mango, quickly followed by jasmine and olibanum. These exquisite tones are followed by vanilla and sandalwood.

 

The entire package makes Fame one of the most exciting feminine fragrances launched in recent years.

 

Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine

 

For years now, I have been debating with myself trying to decide if jasmine is a spring flower or not.

 

I think this lovely perfume from Gucci goes to prove that jasmine is a spring flower. If you have not as yet added Gorgeous Jasmine to your perfume collection, you must. A beautiful perfume which works well any time of the year, but especially in spring.

 

What does Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine smell like?

 

I love the opening statement Gorgeous Jasmine makes with pink pepper and mandarines. The fact lilac has been added to this fragrance delights me.

 

Other notes you will capture include geranium, raspberry and black currant. Amber, white musk, patchouli and a touch of vanilla conclude the fragrance bouquet in this scent.

A fantastic fragrance which works surprisingly well as an evening or special occasion perfume. It is both sophisticated and sensual.

 

Givenchy Irresistible

 

Givenchy describes this fragrance as luscious. Personally, I would call it sparkling and radiating.

 

From the first to the last spray, it is a bit like opening a nice bottle of champagne.

 

What does Givenchy Irresistible smell like?

 

Rose and light, blond wood are the first to make an appearance. Before too long, you are treated to frisky pear and ambrette. The end notes are slightly floral with a hint of musk.

 

Just like a good sparkling wine, you can say the notes cut through the air making Irresistible a unique scent experience.

 

Jimmy Choo I Want Choo

 

I have always liked Jimmy Choo fragrances. This one is not an exception.

What does I Want Choo smell like?

 

This is one of the few fragrances which manages to offer both an uplifting experience and a deeper meaning.

 

Gentle jasmine notes give way to citrus tones before finishing with soft velvet. You can say this is a layered fragrance without being complicated.

 

This is a fragrance which I would wear in the evening. It manages to be soft, sexy and fresh all at once.

 

Another sophisticated fragrance from this premier brand.

 

Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl

 

I do like Carolina Herrera. Not only for her fun bottles which are a must on any dresser, but also for her nice perfumes.

 

Very Good Girl is part of the Good Girl and I think it works as a daytime fragrance. It is slightly flirtatious which adds interest.

 

Rose and lychee are the premier notes. Soft undertones of vanilla have been added.

 

If you are looking for a modern contemporary fragrance, I think this is the one. And that is what the Carolina Herrera brand is all about.

 

Guerlain Mon Guerlaian Bouquet

 

If you have been reading the Perfume Price blog, you will know I am a huge fan of Guerlain.

 

I think I would not be doing my job if I did not mention a spring fragrance from Guerlain.

 

One fragrance you find sitting on my dresser this spring is Bouquet.

 

What does Mon Guerlain Bouquet smell like?

 

Honestly, I think this fragrance smells like a delicious bouquet of fresh flowers. It is slightly more exotic but works well in spring.

 

The addition of pear and mandarin notes contributes towards making this a nice spring perfume. Peony, lavender and jasmine also work well. Base notes of soft vanilla, sandalwood and white musk ensure longevity.

 

Wear it during the day or night - it is up to you.

 

Chloe Signature

 

This fragrance truly deserves its name - it is a real signature scent.

 

Pink peony and freesia with nuances cut through the air. Magnolia and rose add substance. Plus you have got that gorgeous scent of lily-of-the-valley which is just like the bluebell a true spring flower.

 

Finally, you can rely on amber, cedar and the sweetness of honey for endurance.

What does Este Lauder Pleasure smell like?

 

As the fragrance is slightly spicy, it works well now that the weather is warming up.

 

Jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose are all feminine notes. The finished product is a mixture of flowers with nuances of cheeky berry and fruity oils including raspberry and peach. A hint of citrus adds freshness.

 

What Are The Advantages of Buying Perfume Gift Box Sets?

 

When you are shopping for perfume, I think it is always worth looking out for gift box sets. They have so much to offer and are excellent value for money.

 

I keep advocating perfume gift box sets. My long-suffering colleagues at Perfume Price are always having to source them.

 

But then again, there is nothing wrong with buying a single perfume or eau de toilette.

 

The addition of a body lotion in gift box sets helps your fragrance last for longer. Simply apply your body lotion after your morning shower. That way, your fragrance will last for longer if not all day.

It is nice to have a choice of spring fragrances. As mentioned, I like to have at least three on my dresser. That way, you know you have a fragrance to wear for every occasion.

 

Don’t forget to look after your perfume or EDT. Don’t leave scents sitting in the spring sunshine or too close to a heat source. Heat and light quickly spoil fragrances and their natural fragrance oils.
