If you have read my other blogs on Perfume Price UK, you will have realised that I am passionate about enhancing the scent experience you get from your perfume or cologne.

Is Scented Body Lotion Better Than Perfume?

 

Scented body lotions help when it comes to boosting your perfume. It does not mean it is better.

 

When you boost your perfume with a body lotion, the fragrance lasts longer. It is really as simple as that.

 

Scented body lotions work in a different way than perfume. More than often, you only spray on or apply your perfume to certain parts of your body.

 

For instance, you may spray perfume behind your ear or dab it on your wrist. Personally, to boost the way my perfume lasts, I spray it on my hair.

 

It is likely that when you move around, so does your hair. This helps to distribute the perfume. Sometimes, you can smell someone’s hair shampoo or other hair care products. It proves that what we put on our hair continues to release fragrance.

 

How Do Body Lotions Work?

 

Just like your perfume, quality branded body lotions are rich in essential oils. Not only do they smell nice. Many of them also help to improve the health of your skin. Further down on this page, we are taking a look at body lotions that help to improve the condition of your skin.

 

The essential oils in body lotions are absorbed by the skin. As the temperature of our skin increases with activity, the scent particles in your body lotion are continuously released.

Better body lotions also contain better carrier products. What are they? Carrier products are lotions which are used for blending essential oils. Without them, your skin would absorb far less of the essential oils.

 

Duped body lotions or lower-cost body lotions don’t contain essential oils. Instead, they are packed with chemicals that have similar fragrance qualities to essential oils. You can say they mimic the scents. But no, there are no “actual” essential oils in duped or cheap body lotions.

 

Many duped body lotions also contain parabens which cause skin damage. They dry out your skin and do not support the skin to absorb the body lotion. It is important that a body lotion has skin-improving qualities as well as “real” essential oils.

 

This helps to enhance the fragrance experience and increases the durability of the fragrance.

 

What About Shower Gels?

 

Yes, there are branded shower gels for women as well as for men. However, most of us associate shower gels with men.

 

Most men would not dream of putting on a body lotion. Instead, they use a shower gel.

 

Almost all branded men’s shower gels are rich in moisturising components. When you take a shower, the moisturisers are absorbed by the skin and so are the essential oils.

 

Most men’s shower gels have many moisturising qualities. Once the essential oils are absorbed, they are released during the day. Just like women’s body lotions.

 

Do Men’s Body Washes All Smell The Same?

 

I am often asked this question by ladies and I have got the answer.

 

Men seem to get stuck into a rut when it comes to shower gels and body washes. Instead of using one to match the cologne they decide to wear that day, they often use the same shower gel they always use.

 

This means that what you smell is the same body wash or shower gel.

 

If the man in your life is not into using branded shower gels, it is highly likely you will smell the same notes all of the time. Why?

 

Most cheap body washes or shower gels contain similar ingredients. It is the fragrances with longer molecule chains that last. Most manufacturers such as Axe or Old Spice use the same or similar scents.

 

Looking across all of the more cost-effective brands, you will notice one of the most popular ones is sandalwood. This is what most ladies can smell - it s a fragrance note we pick up on. It is also durable and carries on releasing fragrance.

 

But. don’t forget that this so-called sandalwood is not a genuine essential oil. You only get the “real deal” when you buy a better product.

 

In conclusion, you can say that shower gels are the men’s fragrance versions of women’s body lotions. Quality ones perform a similar function to lotions.

 

Can I Mix and Match Lotions, Shower Gels and Perfumes?

 

There are no hard and fast rules. You will get a slightly different fragrance experience, but there is no reason why.

 

However, it is a good idea to stick to the same fragrance range. If you like Hugo Boss, try to buy your gel from Hugo Boss. Many of the fragrances within a certain range or product line from a certain manufacturer such as Dior Sauvage, contain at least one or two of the same essential oils.

 

If you stick to a range, your fragrances won’t clash. They may even enhance one another. The same concept applies to women’s body lotions.

Just like our taste buds, our scent buds vary. We all have our own idea when it comes to what smells nice. Some ladies love Poison, while others dislike it and prefer lighter notes.

 

Fortunately, there is plenty of choice when it comes to women’s fragrances.

 

I think that there are some perfume brands that have got it right. A personal favourite of mine when it comes to women’s body lotions is Guerlain.
